Kuudere is a character archetype in anime and hentai describing someone who is cool, calm, and emotionally detached on the surface but harbors deep feelings underneath. The term combines 'kuuru' (cool, from the English 'cool') and 'deredere' (lovey-dovey). Kuudere characters speak in flat, measured tones, rarely show visible emotion, and approach everything — including romance and intimacy — with apparent indifference.
